Legislative Branch
Welcome, fellow Congressmen and Congresswomen! To get started, you need to investigate your branch of the government. You will need to find out what the legislative purpose is and what important role your branch plays in making our country’s laws. |
Step1: Click here to print the worksheet. You will use it to help you research your branch of government. |
Step 2: – Use the web sites below to find out about the Legislative Branch of Government. Fill out the worksheet as you go. |

Step 3: Now that you know about the Legislative Branch, you need to take a closer look at how a bill becomes a law. During this step of the process, you will look at all the branches of government and how they work together to create and enforce laws. Be sure that you pay close attention to the role your branch of government plays. Scroll down to “How a Bill Becomes a Law” |
Step 4: Now you and all the members of the legislative branch will work together You will use your investigation worksheet to help you create a three to five minute oral group presentation about your branch government. As a group you can choose one of the following forms of presentation :

Step 5: Finally, your teacher will be assigning you one of the roles in this branch of government. You will either be a member of the House or the Senate. As a Representative or a Senator, you will propose bills, meet in committee, and pass at least three bills on to the Executive Branch. |
